Henry Kaufman — the Wall Street sage who predicted back in 1990 that we’d pay a heavy price for Wall Street’s recklessness. Back then he was known as Dr. Doom, but he was right.
Henry Kaufman shared his thoughts on plans for a new economic era, and his faith that this crisis shall pass.
Henry Kaufman's new book On Money and Market: A Wall Street Memoir is on sale on Amazon.com

Richard called for people to volunteer last week to dispatch food to homeless people. I signed up and went with him along with another two international students from Vanderbilt this noon. It's an eye opening experience for sure. I learned more about some of the reasons behind people being homeless and what the church is doing to help homeless. I have to admit that I had assumed why people do not go to work and would rather stay on the streets. Although I didn't talk much with the customers I was serving today, I definitely had the most direct contact with this invisible subgroup of the society. I hope to join the church's effort to help them in the coming years.

On April 28th, 2004, Mom and Dad got their Visas to the United States. I am so excited for them. Gosh, it has been close to 3 years that I haven't seen them. I hope they will be able to get here as soon as possible. Reunion is in countdown now. :)

I went to see Dr. Giuse this afternoon for an interview. After i-am-not-sure-how-long minutes of pleasant talk, I was offered the position. I couldn't believe Dr. Giuse made the decision on the spot. I'm very thankful for what he did and am exicted to start working on the exciting health care project.
Thank Liguo for his support. Life just takes turns sometimes unexpectedly. I never imagined the life change in current stage of my life happened in Starbucks in one afternoon. About two weeks ago, I bumped into Liguo when he took a break during his intense disertation writing. He found a job in First Boston in NYC as a financial analyst. We sit down and talked about the job hunting frustration and eventual success. Liguo assured me it will happen and will happen rather quickly. He is absolutely right. I put myself out there and showed my enthusiasm to the position applied, there I am! I appreciate what Liguo did. Thank you. :) This weekend will be Liguo's farewell party before he heads up to north. I will thank him in person on Saturday.
This unexpected turn also happened right after I finished reading What should I do with my life? by Po Bronson. For numerous times, this very Reality Book brought tears, excitement, hope, courage and purpose of life to me. There are so much to learn. I realized what I need to be successful, to be a leader. I learned the importance of being humble and friendly. Sounds too simple? Yeah. Unfortunately, lots of things in life need to be learned from role model and practice, not just theory. The valuable lessons in the book definitely gave me a clear vision about who I want to become. The new work environment will be THE perfect place to practice.
I also had a weird dream last night about losing my laptop on a train and the efforts finding it was futile. I woke up this morning feeling upset. But I took it as an auspicious sign. The interview and offer proved it. :) Thank God it all happened.
I called Dad, Mom and sisters to tell them the great news. They are all pumped. The next step is trying to get them come here to attend the Commencement. I hope we have enough time. Cross fingers.
It's been a good day. I'm exactly 24 years and 3 months old today.

I checked out the website of career center around 2pm on Thursday and sent out a resume to Performance Automation. James McQuade is the president and he called me in the afternoon. We had a short conversation about the job opening and we set up a time slot on Friday, which is today to talk and it's an official interview. According to the job posting, this could evolve into a full time position. I hope this will happen. Cross my fingers.
Also, sister sent me the email with a contact person in Oracle. Maybe she will be able to help me in the job hunting process. Hope so. Wish me the best of luck.

I got up really early considering I went to bed very late last night. It's gonna be the job fair day. So I drove to Staples and got some professional resume paper and printed some resumes out. Today is the deadline for the production design assistant position in CMT. I decided to submit my resume with coverletter to them directly. That took me a good 2 hours to do that. It's time consuming, but i felt good. Because I can feel the difference and people can see the difference in my efforts to pursue the jobs. good luck to me on the job fair and other job applications.
