Google, Apple Openly Support Fight Against 'Proposition 8'

Google and Apple are both against Prop 8.
Google press release

While we respect the strongly-held beliefs that people have on both sides of this argument, we see this fundamentally as an issue of equality. We hope that California voters will vote no on Proposition 8 -- we should not eliminate anyone's fundamental rights, whatever their sexuality, to marry the person they love.

Apple's press release

we strongly believe that a person’s fundamental rights — including the right to marry — should not be affected by their sexual orientation. Apple views this as a civil rights issue, rather than just a political issue, and is therefore speaking out publicly against Proposition 8.

The contention that being against Proposition 8 is an issue of equality is completely false.

Can anyone argue gay sex is equal to heterosexual sex?

How? One party is exercising something approximate to the natural sexual release, while the other party takes a role that is not natural. In other contexts, this would usually be considered an abusive relationship. For example, in the case of a heterosexual couple, the male had "gay-style" sex with his wife... first, most women would not submit themselves to such a thing, but if she did, she would feel demeaned and mistreated.

If there's nothing in it for her, why do we assume that this is somehow better for one of the partners in a male-male relationship? This also explains why this type of sex act is so instinctively repugnant to most people.

This is one of the fundamental reasons why it is absurd to ask the vast majority of the population to acquiesce to

Mutual consent does not equal morality. In my opinion, there are reasons we have laws designed to protect people from being victimized. Obviously sex with a minor, or child molestation are understood by most to be crimes because there is an aggressor and a victim.

The voter's of California stated their opinion on this issue, and exercised their constitutional right on March 7, 2000 and passed Proposition 22, the California Defense of Marriage Act, by a margin of 61.4–38.6%.

Judges think they are protecting the constitution when they ruled to overturn Proposition to protect the rights of homosexual couples, while ignoring the constitutional protection of voter rights. Lawyers have all kinds of ways of "interpreting the law" ... but that's another topic.

I disapprove of gay marriage, of lesbian and homosexual relationships. However, I don't intend on seeing any kind of punishment placed upon that lifestyle. Most folks feel the same way. It is as people say: "Stay out of my face, and I'll stay out of yours."

Gays and lesbians have every right in California that every other citizen has. They do not have the right to change what can not be changed. Marriage is the word used not to describe, gay love, gay sex, gay wants and desires, or even gay rights. Gay is gay. Heterosexual is heterosexual. The differences are many.

I'm happy to let gays be gay and "pursue life, liberty, and their happiness" but, I don't want them forcing on my family, my children, our schools what is at the very least their own unusual practices in the bedroom. I don't want even the most benign, candy-coated version "taught" that it is "just" another lifestyle. It's not "just" another anything. It's gay and that's why they are fighting against something so basic and essential as the definition of marriage.

Sorry folks. This is not about being "nice" to gay and lesbian folks at the expense of being mean to others. It's not about tolerance. We are tolerant already. California Civil Union Law gives all the rights and protections that gay couples need. It equalized everything. ... It just didn't give gays the right to change the meaning of the word, marriage.

All of the hate that the gay community is showing because they didn't get their way is a HUGE reason why I will never vote to pass for gay marriage - I will not be bullied or let a mob rule how I vote or what I think - it's disgusting that the bullies seem to be winning over people who have a difference of opinion.

I can just imagine if gay marriage was passed how they would get into the religious institutions and shut every one down who has a difference of opinion. Shame on you protestoers.

And I heard that AGAIN on they will be shutting down the streets where poor commuters after a long day at work have to take two hours to go only one mile to their homes (that's what it took me last week try ing to drive through West Los Angeles. I am not afraid to speak up -

This current mob of protestors are such hypocrites - YOU are the ones with hate.
